More than a surfclub, since 1932
Since 1932, Dixon Park has been training lifesavers, responding to emergencies, and serving this stretch of coastline. What started with a handful of volunteers and basic rescue equipment has grown into a modern surf club—but the mission hasn't changed: locals looking after their beach and their community, generation after generation.
We're volunteer-powered, multi-generational, and proudly rooted in the belief that ordinary people can do extraordinary things when they step up together.
Why Dixon Park
Volunteer-powered
Every patrol, every training session, every program—run by locals who give their time because they believe in what we do.
Multi-generational
From Nippers to patrol captains, families have grown up through the club together.
Community-focused
More than a surf club, DPSLC is a place where neighbours become teammates, and looking after the beach means looking after each other.
90+ years strong
Since 1932, through wars, storms, and changing coastlines, Dixon Park volunteers have shown up for their community. That tradition continues every patrol season.

“The more you give to the club, the more it gives back.”
I joined Dixon Park because I wanted to be part of a community organisation that made a difference. What I did not expect was how much I would get back in return. More than a decade later, I am still here. The friendships, the fitness, and the satisfaction of contributing to something worthwhile have all played a part.
It becomes more than just volunteering. You build connections, shared experiences, and a sense that you are part of something bigger than yourself.

“You do not have to know everything to start.”
I joined Dixon Park because I love the ocean and wanted to feel more connected to surf lifesaving. I was looking for a way to stay active, challenge myself, and be part of something that mattered.
What I found was all of that, along with a club that makes you feel welcome from day one. You learn as you go, and you are supported the whole way. It is a place where you can push yourself, try new things, and feel proud of the progress you make.

“I have discovered the ocean in ways I never expected.”
I first got involved at Dixon Park as a nipper parent. Somewhere along the way, I decided to become a patrolling member as well.
The club opened up the ocean to me in ways I genuinely did not think were possible. Alongside that came new friendships, new skills, and a real sense of belonging. It has become a meaningful part of my life and something I am proud to be part of.
